Founded in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, the fund was created to give opportunities to under represented minority students attending or coming from one of the three Contra Costa County Community Colleges. We have awarded over $6 million in scholarships to 956 students since 1968.

In 2022, we awarded twenty-seven $12,000 college scholarships to students from minority groups under-represented at California’s four-year colleges and universities with financial need and who have demonstrated academic success at one of the three community colleges in Contra Costa County.
In 2022. we awarded seven $6,000 scholarships for graduate study to previous recipients of our undergraduate scholarships
In 2022, we granted thirty-eight $1,000 one-time scholarships to current EOPS students attending one of the Contra Costa Community Colleges who have encountered great financial difficulties and may be hindered from getting their associate degree without this assistance.
After a two-year hiatus, we hosted an in-person awards celebration to recognize the scholars receiving our undergraduate and graduate school scholarships.
Each board member is assigned one or more of our college or graduate school scholars to work with them through the academic year.
We welcome internship or job opportunities to help our scholars launch their professional careers.
